Meet the Instructors
A native of Northern Virginia, Rachel Harrington attended George Mason University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Education. During her time at Mason, she was awarded many accolades, including Best in Performance for her graduating class. She was also recognized as one of DCMetro Theatre Arts Best Supporting Actresses for her role as Princess Puffer in The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
She has had the distinct honor of performing with Patti LuPone and has trained with world-renowned actors such as Stacey Keach and Ed Gero. Rachel is a classically trained singer who has participated in many singing groups, operas and done much solo work. She is a high ranking Mezzo-Soprano who has competed throughout Virginia for a number for titles. Her most recent operatic performance was in The Pirates of Penzance where she portrayed the character of Ruth.
Some of her greatest accomplishments have been in the classroom. Rachel has had a knack for teaching theatre since she was a camp counselor. Throughout college, she continued to work with community theatres and school programs. She later taught high school theatre arts for Fairfax County Public Schools where she had the opportunity to lead a flourishing theatre community. She continues to make strides in arts education and positively impacts more lives with the power of theatre.
As a seasoned performer, educator, and musical director, Jon Blank has cultivated a passion for achieving the highest musical standards. Jon earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from George Mason University, where he is also currently pursuing a master’s degree in music education. He is an orchestral strings teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. Jon is an experienced multi-instrumentalist, and has performed as a pianist and bassoonist with multiple groups and orchestras across the area. Jon has been the Musical Director for over thirty community and educational theatre productions, several of which have received NCA Cappies nominations for “Best Musical”. He enjoys how theatre brings together a vibrant community, and finds joy in providing the best musical education and coaching he can offer.
